This Surah, which contains 177 verses, was revealed in Medina. Next to Surah Al-Baqarah, it is the longest Surah of the Qur'an from the point of the number of words and letters. Its contents invite to Faith, justice, taking examples from the nations of the past, breaking the ties of friendship with the enemies of Allah, and supporting the orphans.
Surat Al-Baqarah [verse 4] - And who believe in what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what was revealed before you, and of the Hereafter they are certain [in faith]. Surat Al-Baqarah [2:4] - The Noble Qur'an - القرآن الكريم
Fight against them ˹if they persecute you˺ until there is no more persecution, and ˹your˺ devotion will be to Allah ˹alone˺. If they stop ˹persecuting you˺, let there be no hostility except against the aggressors. Quran 2:146 Tafsir Al-Jalalayn. Those to whom We have given the Scripture they recognise him Muhammad (s) as they recognise their sons because of the descriptions of him in their Scripture ‘Abd Allāh Ibn Salām said ‘I recognised him the moment I saw him as I would my own son; but my recognition of Muhammad (s) was more intense’; even though there is a party of them that conceal the Al-Qur'an Surat At-Takatsur - Surat At Takaatsur terdiri atas 8 ayat, termasuk golongan surat-surat Makkiyyah, diturunkan sesudah surat Al Kautsar. Dinamai At Takaatsur (bermegah-megahan) diambil dari perkataan At Takaatsur yang terdapat pada ayat pertama Pelajaran Menarik Tentang Dua (2) Ayat Terakhir Surat al-Baqarah. Didapati beberapa penafsiran dari para ahli tafsir terkait isi dua (2) ayat terakhir surat al-baqarah, di antaranya sebagaimana termaktub: Ajaran agama Allah itu mudah,tidak ada unsur kesulitan di dalamnya. Allah tidak menuntut dari hamba-hambanya sesuatu yang tidak mereka sanggupi.
